Crude oil is naturally occurring, unrefined petroleum product composed of hydrocarbon deposits and other organic materials. This type of fossil fuel, crude oil can be refined to produce usable products such as gasoline, diesel and various forms of petrochemicals. It is a non renewable resource, which means that it can't be replaced naturally at the rate we consume it and is therefore a limited resource. Crude oil is a type of base oil that makes it possible to be used for other products. Base oil is also source for other products like Base
oil Sn500
.

After the crude oil has been extracted from the ground, it is generally transported to a refinery, where it is heated and distilled into more usable products. Most of these are various types of fuel, which are themselves often used in the composition of still other products. The uses of the crude oils are-

  • Gasoline: According to Energy Information Administration, the most common refined product is gasoline, the bulk of which is used to fuel internal combustion engines, such as those found in automobiles.

  • Diesel: It is a slightly heavier product, diesel fuel is also used in certain types of internal combustion engines, and is superior to gasoline in its fuel economy and its ease of combustion, as well as, if properly refined, its emission.

  • Solvents: Crude oil can be refined into many industrial solvents--like benzene, toluene and xylem--used for the cleaning of machine parts.

  • Kerosene: Kerosene has many uses, including the heating, lighting and the propulsion of jets. Although different than the standard jet fuel, it is superior in several ways.White spirt is also such product that makes it possible to be used.

  • Heating oil: Heating oil is the low-viscosity fuel commonly used in boilers and furnaces. According to the Energy Information Administration, about one-quarter of all crude oil is converted to the heating oil.

  • LPG: Various kinds of liquefied petroleum gas like propane and butane are commonly used as fuels in the outdoor grills and other portable appliances.

  • Residual fuel: Some of the heaviest fuels, which can remain after most other fuels have been distilled, are residual fuels. These viscous fuels are used to power the heavy machinery in boats, power plants and factories.

Just like crude oil, Base oil Sn600 is also a product from petrochemical products which makes it possible to be used for various purposes.
